ADSL Broadband increase effective from 1st July 2021

Following improvements in Broadband technologies, our suppliers have applied a change to all ADSL broadband products of an increase of 5.95% to the rental charge effective from 1st July 2021. This is not news that we want to communicate to our customers, however improvements in fibre broadband technologies have meant that ADSL broadband is costing more to support alongside the planned ‘BT Switch Off’ of analogue lines. Broadband speeds in particular have improved significantly and more exchanges have been upgraded to deliver FTTP and SOGEA services. Class Networks offer a range of Fibre based products offering vastly improved speeds and resilience and we would be keen to discuss what is available.

Fixed Line Pricing Notification effective 1st June 2021

BT have announced an increase in the cost of fixed line rentals for analogue lines, analogue multi-line, ISDN2 and ISDN30 Channels effective from 1st July 2021. As has been reported across the industry, the fixed line network is being switched off in 2025 and as such the cost of supporting the network has increased. As such, it is necessary for Class Networks to pass this increase of 4.95% on. This is not a decision we have taken lightly and will continue to work to provide savings across our customers telephony and IT spend.

In addition, Class have also seen an increase of 4.95% to our fixed line call rates from our suppliers applied effective from 1st June 2021.

Whilst a rate increase is never a message that we or our customers want to hear, and this change in itself is not a significant increase, we believe it is indicative of the direction that the pricing of traditional voice services is heading in the industry. Class Networks offer a number of alternative services to WLR and CPS that we would be happy to discuss with you when reviewing your telephony services.

Whilst a rate increase is never a message that we or our customers want to hear, and this change in itself is not a significant increase, we believe it is indicative of the direction that the pricing of traditional voice services is heading in the industry. Important Message Regarding Changes to Mobile EU Regulations May 2017

From 15th June 2017, new EU mobile telecommunication legislation will come into effect which will change how EU Customers are able to use their mobiles whilst roaming in Europe.

New Legislation – ‘Roam Like At Home’

The new legislation means that European Networks must ensure that customers are able to use their devices within the EU based on rates and rules almost identical to that which they receive on their home network.

For example, if you have bundled minutes and texts and a data allowance this can now be used in EU countries without incurring additional charges or paying a daily charge.

What is Roaming?

Roaming refers to when mobile users can automatically make and receive voice calls, send and receive data, or access other services, including home data services, when travelling outside the geographical coverage area of the home network, by means of using the local network.

Communication Updates

We are still waiting to hear from some of our networks, for them to communicate how this will affect existing tariffs and fair usage policies. Once confirmed we will update you and confirm charges before 15th June 2017.

Ofcom Changes to Non-Geographic Call Services – effective 1st July 2015

1 June 2015

Ofcom is bringing in regulations on the 1st July, changing the way consumers are charged for calls to Non-Geographic Numbers (NGNs). The changes are designed to make the cost of calls clearer, particularly for mobile callers, and they’re being shared through a campaign called UK Calling. Full details are found at http://www.ukcalling.info/

Specifically, the changes to Class Networks tariff are:-

Outbound Mobile & Fixed

Calls made to 084/087/09/118 numbers across the UK will change from their current RRP structure to a split between a service charge and an access charge

  • An access charge: This part of the call charge is set by the call provider at ppm. For Class Networks this will be 5ppm for fixed lines and 37.5ppm for mobiles (ex VAT).
  • A service charge: This is the rest of the call charge. The organisation you are calling decides this and will tell you how much it is. The Service Charge price will be quoted when the number is published and will include reference to the Access Charge. Eg “Calls to this number will cost Xppm Service Charge plus your phone company Access Charge.” The joint price will be charged on the phone bill.

Inbound 084/087/090 Number Holders

We have notified all customers who hold Inbound Numbers with Class Networks which Service Charge Band each of their numbers has been allocated to. As of 1st July 2015, Class Networks are not making any changes to call rates for receiving these calls.

Inbound 080 Number Holders

From 1st July it will be free for consumers to call 080 number from a mobile. Instead, the cost of these calls will be transferred to the Inbound Number holder by way of an ppm charge. From 1st July the cost of receiving calls to an 080 number held with Class Networks will be:

ppm (ex VAT)
Per minute termination rate to fixed line from fixed line3.95p
Per minute termination rate to fixed line from mobile6.95p
Per minute termination rate to mobile from fixed line *14p
Per minute termination rate to mobile from mobile *17p

* These rates apply to calls terminating on the O2, Vodafone, Orange & T-Mobile networks. All other networks will be charged at 25pp

Please contact us on 0333 800 8822 if you wish to discuss how these changes affect your organisation.

Price Change Notification – effective from 18th September 2014

  • Fault Visit Additional Hours – Revised Charge £80.00
  • Single Number DDI Connection Fee – Revised Charge £1.05
  • BT Engineer Visit Fault – Revised Charge £125.00

1 August 2014

Due to price rises and service level changes imposed by BT, Class Telecom will increase charges as follows:

From 01/08/2014 the payphone levy will increase to 80ppm.

From 1/10/2014 Premium Analogue Lines will have enhanced Business 2 Plus care level as standard. Monthly rental will increase by 40p per line, per month.

We have kept this increase to a minimum and the price of a Residential Line is not affected. There are also some additional benefits (see below).

As part of these changes, BT is repackaging the Level 2 maintenance for Premium Analogue lines to include ‘Business 2 Plus’ as part of a WLR Premium line enhancement. Enhanced features include:

  • Smart Divert as standard, with a range of ‘divert to’ options that can be changed remotely.
  • Discounted access to More Focused Appointments (MFA), offering engineer arrival on site of between 10.00 and 12.00 or between 14.00 and 16.00; and Named Engineer (currently in trial) which provides the engineer’s name 48 hours in advance of the appointment.
  • Business 2 Plus improved repair performance, aiming to deliver On-Time Repair (OTR) performance 80-85% of the time, within 3-6 months of launch, excluding MBORC.
  • What action do I need to take?

You need to take no action – the price adjustment for Premium Analogue line customers will take effect automatically in the bill run for October’s line rental.

However, Premium Analogue Line customers can downgrade to a Basic (Residential) Analogue Line with Service Level 1 and retain their existing pricing. Customers taking this option will lose their Service Level 2 Business benefits including having faults cleared by the end of the next working day (see comparison table) and will be placed in the Residential Directory.

The option to downgrade is only available to single lines, not multi-line groups.
